24 years young...

12/16/08
Today is officially my birthday in the states! Yesterday was 16/12/08 as well and I had a wonderful day! In Australia they write the day before the month and that took some getting used too! Sean and I play a game called Oz-Tag every Tuesday night so that was our first stop before Sean took me out to dinner. (Oz-tag is like flag football but its flag rugby here) It is a great form of exercise and fun for Sean and I each week. However, this game was different than the others we have played...I scored my first Try! That means Touchdown in American!! hehe Then we cooled off, changed into some nice cloths and were off to dinner. I had blackened chicken with sour cream and salsa on top with made me feel quite at home and Sean had some yummy prawns(shrimp) in a creamy seafood sauce. After finishing all of this wonderful food, we were too full for dessert! oh no! So instead of desert I opened presents, yay! Sean gave me the most beautiful perfume called 'Red Door' by Elizabeth Arden and also some new purple sandals to go with my favorite purple shirt! Isn't that thoughtful?!
Then we headed over to Sean's Dads to say hello.

Earlier that day Sean's Step-mum and Dad both called separate times to sing me Happy Birthday personally, it was so sweet of them! I was greeted at the Doyle residence with more hugs and happy birthdays as well as a few unexpected gifts. I didn't expect anything really so this was a nice surprise. Tracey mum gave me some beautiful handmade earrings made of shells along with some green chili jam that looks equivalent to our well known enchilada sauce! I also received some treats from Renee, Sean's little sister, who works at a lolly(candy) shop in town. I was so happy to see Reeses Pieces and Sour Skittles in my package! My favorite candies from home! Then we began to sing the twelve days of Christmas in an attempt to see if we could remember all the verses! It was silly and random but quite fun! I still cannot believe I am almost a quarter of a century old...but I think I am just going to tell everyone until then that I am 24 years young!

Hope you enjoyed my little birthday blog!
xoxo Love Holly

'Like Mother, Like Daughter'

Thanksgiving is my most favorate holiday. I love that my Mom starts to prepare the yummy stuffing the night before and I love all the different smells of turkey, pies and casseroles throughout the house the day of. I am sooooooo sad that I had to miss Thanksgiving this year! So I decided to prepare one myself for my new Aussie friends....hoping I had an ounce of my mothers patience and cooking talent. I have found out in the recent months that I can indeed cook the things my mother does for our family and they taste good too!! So here is the proof that the saying lives true between us, 'Like mother, Like Daughter'!
I hope you don't get too hungry!

The Menu:
Cranberries, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole, Mash Potatoes, Turkey Gravy, Stuffin' Muffins, Stuffing, Turkey and Homemade Pumpkin Pie for dessert!

Sean, Rhiannan, Myself, Aysha and Arnel
