Happy Holidays

Hey All,
I am
in the midst of learning various Christmas Carols for the holiday season. I have a possible gig at a shopping mall near by to sing some songs this coming December! I thought I might share one with you in hopes to spread some Christmas Cheer to my loved ones back in the states. I am going to miss Christmas in Arizona very much!
Happy Holidays!!!

Family

It is 6:45 am and I cannot seem to get back to sleep. I was browsing an album of photos Alanna, myself and our mothers took in Prescott, Arizona prior to my departure to Australia. Oh how I miss them. I thought I would share some photos with you. Our mothers have been friends since before we were even thought of. They were pregnant together with both of us as we were born 3 months apart, so I guess you can say we have been friends since the womb! That's what we have always said! My sister from another mother, I miss you! And I miss our moms too!
Sending out my love to you all, Holly

AUSTRALIA UPDATE 2

ABOVE: TERRIGAL LAGOON

Hey everyone back home in the states. I just watched as McCain and Obama spoke to the world after their long year of campaigning for the Presidency of the United States. History was in the making today in America and the entire world was tuned in. I will tell my children one day that I was at my gym in Australia watching the television with a little headset on while watching this historical moment while the whole world stopped to listen and watch Barak Obama become President. He has a big job to do and I hope to God that he pulls through.
God Bless America.

With that aside, I would love to tell you some of the things I have been up to these days. The last 2 months have gone by so fast that I have a feeling that my stay here in Australia may go by quicker than I thought! Sean and I moved into our new house in Terrigal, NSW near the end of September. It is the cutest little townhouse that is skipping distance to the beach! Sean’s father has been such a great help to us in furnishing our new home. To give you an idea of how much help he has been, we have a fully furnished bedroom, guest room, back yard and living room including an extra guest bedroom mattress and 3 couch sets. We are in the midst of choosing witch couch sets to keep! I am living with Sean, Arnel (Sean’s good friend) and his girlfriend Aysha. Our townhouse has 3 bedrooms so we wanted to rent out one of the rooms to help our rent costs. They are wonderful people and we all get along so well! I couldn’t ask for a better living situation. The boys, Sean and Arnel, went garage sale hunting and also found us a really nice dining room table, a grill for the backyard and a really huge television set to add to our furnishings! Hooray for our new home!

OUR NEW HOME

Many of you may know that my mother, Patti, is a fabulous cook. Well I am very glad to say that some of her great cooking skills may have rubbed off on me! Since living here I have made homemade green chilli sauce to top some yummy chicken enchiladas..

ENCHILADAS

I have also cooked up some Indian butter chicken and baked some homemade banana bread! I hope you are all proud! I am the next generation, Patti Jr.!

BANANA BREAD AND ME!

SOME INDIAN FOOD, YUMM!

I thought you may enjoy some photos of the items I am now used to purchasing here in Australia.

AUSSIE CONDIMENTS AND SUCH!

CLOSE UP #1

CLOSE UP #2

Items Left to right: Tomato Sauce (tome-ah-toe), Hahn SuperDry Premium LOW CARB beer(YUM!), Vegemite (Sean loves this stuff...ew!), Lemon & Pepper Sandwich Tuna in a can(I have found nothing that says White Albacore anywhere!), Flora Ultra Light butter Spread, Crispbread (A.k.a. Saltine Crackers!), Sweet Chilli Sauce (HUGE OVER HERE), and Creamy Mayonnaise that looks really gross!

They do not have canned pumpkin anywhere over here and I still haven’t found the right kind of pumpkin to make homemade pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving! Yes, I will be making my very own Thanksgiving celebration this year with my new Aussie friends and family! Mom sent me the goodies I need for the stuffing and I am in search of a Turkey as well. Wish me luck. There will be photos soon after the holiday!

Speaking of pumpkins, this Halloween I had a gig singing at a shopping mall in Newcastle. I was Holly the Singing Good Witch and the children loved me! The only Halloween song I knew was called ‘5 Little Pumkins’ and every little child I found loved it! I walked around, handed out candy and sang for 6 hours! I got the gig thanks to Sean’s Step-mum Tracey. She is a promotions co-coordinator for most of the shopping malls in NSW. She is getting me into the mall where Sean works to sing Christmas Carols with my guitar! Doyle’s Tavern has been so wonderful to me as well. This is where I sing and bartend during the week and on the weekends. Everyone I have met has been such a great help in getting my name out there. I picked up an Agent as well, his name is Sheldon Kidd and he has helped me get into some really great venues to play over the next couple of months. He also helped get me onto a local radio station here in town and I was interviewed and sang a couple of songs just this afternoon! They loved it and asked me back to sing this weekend as well! It is going to be a great help in getting my voice heard. I have a new you tube video up if you would like to have a listen as well!

I am spending as much time as I can at the beach wether is for the day or just for a walk by the water. I wish you could all see this beautiful country. Sean and I plan to do some road tripping this coming January and I cannot wait to see what other gorgeous places I get to see. We are also planning on a cruise within the next few months to Figi or New Caledonia for 9 nights. Our friend is a travel agent and can give us a great discount! If you have seen photos of these locations then you should know how lucky we may be! I hope you all have enjoyed my photos and little stories. I will put up those Halloween photos as soon as Tracey emails them to me. I miss you all so much and will be in touch soon!
